In the age of interactive multimedia the study of media texts is becoming the problem of topical interest. The article is devoted to the investigation of advertising media texts, their analysis and interpretation.

Modelling Cognitive Contexts of Verbal Irony (on the Material of the Russian and English Languages)

The research represented in the article focuses on the modelling of the process of ironic meaning construction. The modelling is realized in the form of hierarchically organized mental spaces. These are cognitive contexts that provide comprehension of irony.

Discourse Specifics of the New Testament Parable Genre (on the Material of the Analysis of the Prodigal Son Parable)

The article is dedicated to the research of the genre specifics of religious Christian discourse and the peculiarities of discourse functioning of such secondary religious genre as a New Testament parable. The author singles out linguo-cognitive components of the Prodigal Son parable in Orthodox and Protestant discourses.

Linguistic Creativity of the Schoolchildren, Revealed in Conditions of the Associative Experiment

In the article, playing techniques of the schoolchildren’s reactions, the causes and the modes of the design of non-usage words are investigated on the material of the Associative Dictionary of the Schoolchildren of Saratov and the Saratov Region. Such reactions are considered as the manifestation of linguistic creativity of the schoolchildren.

SITUATION OF EVALUATION IN DISCUSSION OF SPORTS ACHIEVEMENTS IN FRENCH-CANADIAN CHAT INTERVIEWS

Franco-Canadians interested in sports discuss sports events on the Internet with famous sportsmen, coaches, journalists. One of the main topics of discussion is the evaluation of the achieved result. During the dialogue, different evaluation situations arise: the fan estimates the achievement of the athlete, the athlete evaluates his own achievements, the fan and the athlete evaluate the results of third parties. The article analyzes the correlation of positive and negative evaluations in different situations and gives characteristic examples of speech acts.

The Idiom as a Way of Representing the Linguistic Picture of the World (on the Material of the Arab Phraseological Units with the Component «Hat»)

The article analyzes Arabic idioms with the nominations of headwear. The structure and semantics of the members of this group are identified. The role of these idioms in representing the linguistic picture of the world of Arab ethnicity is determined.
