On the International Demand for the French Language

The paper focuses on the formation, development and current state of the French language as a means of international communication. Special attention is paid to the destiny of the French language in the world from two perspectives: from the perspective of multiculturalism and the perspective of cross-language competition.

This article examines the use of expressive devices from poetic syntax
in play discourse of advertisement as a means of a more effective
impact upon the recipient of the text. Advertising discourse is considered
as a stylistically marked linguistic unit on the basis of which these expressive devices of poetic syntax are studied.

Structural and Functional Peculiarities of the Lexical-Semantic Field «Disease» in Conversational Discourse (on the Material of Spontaneous Informal Speech of Physicians)

The article focuses on the analysis of some social and professional group discourse from the viewpoint of semantic fields theory. The peculiarities of the lexical-semantic field «Disease» are described based on the material of spontaneous informal conversational discourse of physicians; the structural and functional analysis of the field in question is given.

Paremiology of the Russian Language in the Traditional and Modern World Pictures (on the Material of Proverbs about Work and Labour)

The article deals with the research of the LABOUR concept in the traditional and modern world pictures of the Russian language speakers. The analysis of the functions of those paroemias, which reflect the traditional lifestyle pattern of a Russian person, in modern periodicals renders it possible to elicit changes taking place in the society’s world outlook and the norms and value system.

Basic Units of Formal Syntax

The paper offers a new typology of English basic syntactic units that take part in realizing communicative acts and traces its applicability to a study of Russian basic syntactic units.

The article discusses the possibility of revealing general and individual communication strategies on the material of free associative experiment data; the principle of distinguishing communicative strategies and speech tactics is introduced.

The article is dedicated to the study of visual actualization as a graphosemantic variety of the language game, represented by means of pictographic and precedent visualization. Cognitive mechanism of perception of multilevel texts in advertising communication is analyzed with the help of the description of how the designated means of visual actualization are implemented.

Phrasеologically Bound Sentences Such As ‘If we are going, let us go’ in the Russian Language

Upon analyzing Russian phraseologically bound sentences such as ‘if we are going, let us go’ from various aspects, their linguistic essence has been described and their semantic structures have been characterized. All the above have allowed to approach the task of creating a general typology of these units.

Vocal Morphonological Systems in Nominal Inflection

In the article three autonomous classifications of the systems under investigation are offered. The structural one: 1) hierarchical polymodel weakly typified (Russian, Ukrain, Polish, Check); 2) non-hierarchical poly-model weakly typified (Old Greek, Icelandic, Bulgarian); 3) non-hierarchical mono-model highly typified (English, German, Latin). The substratum one: 1) archaic (classical); 2) innovational (modern Slavic, Germanic). The content one: 1) minimal (Germanic, except the celandic); 2) medial (Russian, Latin, Old Greek); 3) maximal (the rest of the Slavic).
