Image of the City in Dina Rubina’s Story «High Water Venetians»

In the article an attempt is made to analyze the peculiarity of the structure of space in Dina Rubina’s novel «High Water Venetians». Venice is viewed as a field with a nuclear and peripheral spheres. Field analysis of language components allows to see a live, evolving image of the city directly linked to the internal state of the main character.

Types of Hybridity in Computer-Mediated Communication

The article deals with different types of hybridity as a global category of computer-mediated communication. In the article hybridity is defined as a mixture of orthographical, lexical, syntactical, stylistic, semiotic and genre forms in one linguistic unit (word, sentence or text).

Verbal Sentence: Pragmatics vs. Semantics, Pragmatics vs. Grammar

The article discusses a Russian verbal sentence in terms of pragmatic strategies and their predictable
influence on grammatical and semantic structure of the sentence. Some noticed regularities
are being discussed. They are determined by vectors pragmatics – semantics and pragmatics – grammar in the verbal sentence’s field, which is being treated as a certain linguistic construct. Pragmatics
in the verbal sentence’s field manifests as variability of the content and form of the sentence.

Choosing Communication Type Variant as a Component of Communicative Competence

The article addresses the correspondence of the formal and informal communication and the influence of the communication type on the communication processes.

The article focuses on stylistic characteristics of the «interrogation» dialogical unity in German. Judicial process is analyzed from the point of view of functional styles.

The article deals with the content of Russian and Polish idiomatic systems from the point of view of the semantic field «Slavic paganism» elements being used in them. The main thematic groups included in the idiomatic systems are singled out. Similarities and differences in the idiomatization of Slavic sacral ideas in Russian and Polish phraseological units have been identified.

The article deals with the history of the abstract vocabulary study. It observes the general theoretical ideas, which reveal the essence of this vocabulary layer taking into account the traditional views established during the XIXth – XXth centuries as well as the achievements of contemporary linguistic theory.
