Clichés and Officialeses in Publicistic Text as a Translation Problem

In the article clichés and officialeses are considered as the problems encountered in the translation of the journalistic style texts (topical articles). The main transformations in the sphere of clichés are revealed to have been determined by the changes of the text pragmatic aspect.

Cognitive and Linguistic Characteristics of Naming a Person by a Perceptive Action

Based on the material of the analysis of how the units naming persons by perceptive actions function, the article offers the interpretation of some peculiarities inherent to this group of words, as well as to the whole category of person naming which is distinguished, as compared to other types of naming, by linguistic and cognitive principles of origin and development.

The role of metaphor in the formation of the modern computer slang is analyzed in the article. The main groups of lexis are singled out; they are used as the source of the figurative slang meanings formation; they are compared with the general language tendencies; the system of metaphorization sources is researched as the reflection of the unique world picture of this certain idiom.

The article focuses on the need for students to develop an adequate intercultural competence. One of the key concepts of intercultural communication is national stereotypes, which need not be "eradicated", but it is necessary to learn to be aware.

The article examines presuppositions as the means of forming and/ or modifying convictions, attitudes, values of the target audience. In American political discourse presuppositions have a marked propaganda focus.

The article is dedicated to the issues of corpus linguistics and to the development of corpus-based discourse analysis principles. The author briefly characterizes the tendencies of corpus research in Russian and European linguistics and offers a set of methods of conceptual field modeling within the structure of discourse.

The article gives an analysis of methods of speech impact in the discourse of two presidential election campaigns in Russia – in 2008 and 2012. Peculiarities of political opposition discourse represented in Novaya Gazeta are described.
