Pragmatic Aspect of using Presuppositions in American Political Discourse (Retracted 11/04/2022)

The article examines presuppositions as the means of forming and/ or modifying convictions, attitudes, values of the target audience. In American political discourse presuppositions have a marked propaganda focus.

The Conceptual Field Faith in Orthodox and Protestant Subdiscourses (on the Material of the Russian and English Language Corpus Texts)

The article is dedicated to the issues of corpus linguistics and to the development of corpus-based discourse analysis principles. The author briefly characterizes the tendencies of corpus research in Russian and European linguistics and offers a set of methods of conceptual field modeling within the structure of discourse.

Peculiarities of Election Campaign Discourse of the Russian Political Opposition in Presidential Elections

The article gives an analysis of methods of speech impact in the discourse of two presidential election campaigns in Russia – in 2008 and 2012. Peculiarities of political opposition discourse represented in Novaya Gazeta are described.

Time as One of the Event Structure Key Parameters (Based on Russian Verbal Associations)

The article deals with the problem of how a stimulus type influences the direction of giving answers in an associative experiment. Based on the analysis of reactions representing such an event structure component as «Event time and duration», event names are shown to be a specific stimuli type causing reactions which differ from those caused by stimuli of other types.

Typology of Nominative Phraseologically Bound Sentences in the Russian Language

Upon analyzing Russian nominative phraseologically bound sentences from various aspects, their linguistic essence has been destribed; their structural and grammatical types have been defined; their semantic structures have been characterized. All the above have given an opportunity to approach the task of creating a general typology of these units.

Issues of Describing Russian Communicative Units Consisting of Syncategorematic Words

The article dwells on some questions dedicated to the description of communicative units – grammatically vague utterances that function as responses in a dialogue. The analysis is of the communicative units class containing only syntactic words, that is grammatical idioms, is held. Examples of the lexicographic description of such units are given.

Chat Interview as a secondary speech Genre

In modern Internet communication new speech genres are born. They are secondary in relation to the traditional forms, which emerged in real communication. Chat interview is a secondary genre, it is a type of a celebrity interview, mediated by the electronic communication medium. There are differences and similarities between these two genres.

Modern School Student’s Lexicon: Content Problem

The article shows the possibilities of the associative lexicon database as a source of study of the content and structure of the modern school student’s lexicon in its age dynamics on the material of «The associative dictionary of the school student of Saratov and Saratov region».

Role of the Interlocutor’s Communicative Behaviour in the Usage of the Desemantized Discourse Elements

The article presents some observations of the formal and informal speech; the possible reasons of the desemantized elements being used, as well as the correlation between their usage and the communicate behaviour of the listener are analyzed.
