Associative Experiment as One of the Methods of Studying Linguistic Consciousness in Physicians

The article discusses the potential of a psycholinguistic association experiment in the study of professional and personal distinguishing features of language consciousness in physicians. Research findings support the idea of associative reactions being professionally determined and of their congruency with the parcels recorded in the lexical-semantic field «Disease».

Ironic Epic Style of Fazil Iskander: Peculiarities of Idiostyle

Stylistic tendencies typical for F. Iskander’s idiostyle are analyzed: epic narration and ironic modality. External and internal characteristics of narrative as well as different degrees and types of irony are considered.

Modus Category of Tonality and Methods of its Realization in Jounalistic Discourse

The article focuses on different approaches to categorization and deals with the study of cognitive aspects of modus (interpretative) category of tonality as a means of expressing the speaker’s subjective attitude to the facts of the objective reality. The complicated structure and methods of realization of tonality are shown on the example of journalistic discourse of the English language.

The Concept of «Mental Representations» as a Model for Categorization of Political Discourse in Russia

The presented paper provides an insight into modern Russian political discourse and offers the analysis of 16 speeches delivered by Russian Presidents to the Federal Assembly in 1994–2009. An attempt has been made to show a tripartite connection between language, political ideologies and cultural values. Theoretical assumptions on power distance and the degree of individualism/collectivism in the modern Russia are illustrated with instances of discourse.

Features Index of Category of Fabulousness in English Folk Tale Discourse

The paper studies the way the category of fabulousness is modified in folk tales belonging to the nucleus of English folk tale discourse. Chronotopical parameter proves to be the most sensitive to the influence of extralinguistic factors. Being determined by socio-cultural conditions of its existence, the genre specificity of English folk tale is manifested in weakening of discursive features of chronotopical uncertainty, fantasticality (fiction) and, therefore, entertainment.

Headlining Strategies of Modern Texts: Entitling in Poetry and Naming in Advertising

In this article are described some artistically-linguistic strategies of entitling (in poetry) and naming (in advertising) marking a tendency to the activization of aesthetic function in the advertising text and contributing to the presentation of goods as the topical advertising aim.

Subjective Aspects of Art Discourse Perception

In this article the communicative and pragmatic approach to art discourse is realized, which assumes that the discourse is obligatorily aimed at an addressee / recipient, without which discourse analysis would be considered incomplete and unaccomplished.

Subject of Inner State in the Semantics of Perception Lexis

The article focuses on the analysis of situation concept of inner state subject in the English, Polish, Russian, and Ukrainian languages. The situation concept is regarded as a dynamic formation, representing the interaction of the situation key participants from the point of view of the parameters of a semantic role and a taxonomic class. Both the constituents of the concept and semantic features of key participants of perception situation are established.

Role of the Interlocutor’s Communicative Behaviour in the Usage of the Desemantized Discourse Elements

The article presents some observations of the formal and informal speech; the possible reasons of the desemantized elements being used, as well as the correlation between their usage and the communicate behaviour of the listener are analyzed.

ACTUAL COMPUTER LEXIS IN ASSOCIATIONS OF SCHOOLCHILDREN

The composition of the so-called computer vocabulary in the associative reactions of schoolchildren is studied using the material of the Associative Dictionary of Saratov and Saratov Region Schoolchildren. It is shown that it has entered the lexicon of students of all age groups and as the students grow up, its relevance increases.
