Vocabulary of secondary dialects of the Middle Volga Region in statics and dynamics

The article deals with the dialectal vocabulary of Russian dialects on the territory of the Middle Volga region. The author relies on new materials collected in the regional atlas and dictionary. The article provides the facts that the sources reflect the uneven development of dialect lexical systems, in which, on the one hand, under the influence of standardization and inter-dialectal contact, new words appear and, on the other hand, archaisms are preserved.

Zoonyms in the fi gurative space of the language: Metaphor, comparison, phraseological unit

This article discusses linguistic units which actualize the fi gurative potential of zoonyms (animalisms, animal names) – metaphors, comparisons, phraseological units. The purpose of this research is to establish the lexical and semantic features of the units included in the fi gurative fi eld of zoonyms.

Small-format text: The notion revisited (Theoretical aspects)

The article deals with the clarifi cation of the terminological concept of “small-format text”, in particular, an attempt is made to establish the criteria and boundaries of “small-format” in relation to the texts currently employed in the process of real communication. The topic is addressed due to the fact that the tendency towards the optimization of communication and reduction of textual volume represents a characteristic trend of modern speech interaction in all communicative contexts.

The place of kitzdeutch in the literary German language

The article analyzes the main defi nitions of the concept of „language norm“ by domestic and foreign linguists of the early 20–21st centuries. Thus, the dichotomy of F. de Saussure “language” and “speech” is considered, on the basis of which most studies of the concept of “norm” were built. The defi nitions of the norm given by E. Coseriu, representatives of the Prague Linguistic Circle are analyzed. The social and dynamic nature of the language norm is revealed in the defi nitions of Russian scientists: A. M. Peshkovsky, S. I. Ozhegov, D. N.

The peculiarities of the oppositional political discourse of Ugandan politician Bobi Wine

The article analyzes the political discourse of one of the most infl uential Ugandan opposition politicians, Bobi Wine, who is famous for his scathing criticism of Ioweri Museveni’s regime, existing since 1986. Bobi Wine, who offi cially started his political career in 2017, the year when he was elected in the Ugandan parliament, actually does not recognize the legitimacy of the rule of his ideological enemy. In the country the political myth is created according to which the opposition, and not Yoweri Musevini, won the presidential elections of 2021.

The article studies English borrowings in modern Russian. One of the main factors of borrowing is globalization which resulted in closer cooperation between countries at the turn of the centuries. One of the central problems of sociolinguistics is exponentially intensive interrelation of languages in the modern world. The predictions of perspectives and evaluation of its results for the Russian language have been changing during the last several decades.

Self-mentions in evaluating academic discourse

The article presents the analysis of Russian self-mentions – elements of authorization comprising “the voice of the author” – in evaluative academic discourse. These are phrases containing fi rst person personal pronouns and possessive pronouns (я; мы; меня; мне; нам; нас; мой; наш).

On the specifi c features of attributive constructions in the texts of M. Tsvetaeva

The article deals with the description of the specifi c features of attributive constructions (epithet complexes) in M. Tsvetaeva’s texts. The Collected Works of the poet, as well as the Dictionary of Poetic Language served as the material for this research. The article examines food tradition that exists on the territory of Vytegorsky (Megra) and Totemsky districts in Vologda Oblast (Varnitsy village, Ivoilovo village, Pyatovskaya village, Glubokoe village, Myasokombinat village, Savino village, Sovinskaya village, Tsareva village, Chernyakovo village, Pritykino village, Totma).
