Text internationalization in the paradigm of linguistic and translatological studies: Global and pre-localization directions of internationalization

The research deals with linguistic and extralinguistic features of the internationalization process of multimedia products text materials. The term internationalization is considered in the paper within the framework of the translation activity “GILT processes” (processes of globalization, internationalization, localization and translation). The article describes the current state of linguistic and translatological studies of the internationalization process. The paper presents the definition of the internationalization concept.

The role of intralinguistic factors in recreating stylistic equivalents in literary translation (exemplified by American fiction)

The paper proposes viewing intralinguistic factors inherent in the source and target languages as strictly given organized systems, being effective means in recreating the original’s various stylistic peculiarities in its translated version and in attaining its stylistic equivalence.

Clichés and Officialeses in Publicistic Text as a Translation Problem

In the article clichés and officialeses are considered as the problems encountered in the translation of the journalistic style texts (topical articles). The main transformations in the sphere of clichés are revealed to have been determined by the changes of the text pragmatic aspect.

Tour Guidance as an Object of Professional Translation Activity Within the Framework of Tourist Discourse

The article deals with the peculiarities of tourist discourse from the perspective of translation activity on the example of the excursion genre. The author sets up the postulates for an interpreter to develop a translation strategy in order to achieve an adequate conventional action within the specified genre.

The author considers cases of partial and complete dissimilarity of original and translated names of motion pictures, reveals possible reasons for using transformational operations.

The article offers a history of the publication of translations of M. Jursenar's works into Russian since 1984 and systematizes the assessments and approaches to the work of the French writer, which have been developing in parallel in domestic criticism.

 

CHEKHOVSKY "PLATONOV" ("PIECE WITHOUT NAME") IN THE INTERPRETATION OF M. FREIN

The article is devoted to the study of the play of the modern English playwright M. Frein "Wild Honey", which in turn is a translation-interpretation of Chekhov's "Platonov". The article analyzes approaches, ways Frein uses in working with Chekhov's text, and also tries to understand how organically the classical Russian-language text exists in the space of the theatrical culture of England.

From The Wandering Jew to Ahasver: Eugène Sue’s Novel in Russian Translations

The article deals with Russian translations of the famous novel The Wandering Jew (1844) by the French writer Eugène Sue, performed at different times. The brief characteristics of translators are considered. The comparative analysis of translations in the conceptual and cultural context of its era is carried out. The printing features of individual publications are characterized.

Discourse Marker you know and Functional Approach to Its Translation into Russian in Film Subtitling and Dubbing

The article is concerned with the textual and interpersonal functions of discourse marker you know in movie dialogues and the means of its functional translation in subtitles and dubbing. The subtitled and dubbed versions are compared in terms of the proportion of marker omission as well as the proportion of functional losses.

On Lexical Variability in Translations from the Dead Language (Flora and Fauna in The Tale of Igor’s Campaign and its French Translations)

The article discusses the phenomenon of lexical variability on the example of the names of flora and fauna in French retranslations of the Tale of Igor’s Campaign (11 texts). In the course of the study a number of reasons for lexical variability are determined: various reconstructions of the Old Russian text, parallel Russian texts from which translations were made, standard translator’s solutions.
