Статья посвящена первому стихотворному переводу комедии А. С. Грибоедова «Горе от ума» на английский язык. Рассматривается перевод названия пьесы в сравнении с вариантами других переводов. Комментируются эквиваленты имен, данные переводчиком персонажам комедии, а также введенный им в текст комедии эпиграф. Анализируются случаи изменения эмоциональной оценочности и стилистической окраски высказывания при переводе на иностранный язык. Особое внимание уделяется переводу идиоматических выражений.

The research deals with linguistic and extralinguistic features of the internationalization process of multimedia products text materials. The term internationalization is considered in the paper within the framework of the translation activity “GILT processes” (processes of globalization, internationalization, localization and translation). The article describes the current state of linguistic and translatological studies of the internationalization process. The paper presents the definition of the internationalization concept.

The article is dedicated to the analysis of the English version of N. V. Gogol’s «Overcoat» that was made by C. J. Hogarth in 1918; some of the main problems that the translators encounter while dealing with the text of the novel are mentioned; the means used for rendering social and national particularities of the text and the plot, Gogol’s narrative technique and reasoning. 

The article discusses some extra- and intralinguistic conditions for the formation of the Australian version of the English language, which is independent and takes its own place in the system of other variants of the English language, differing both from the British English and American versions. It is also noted that in the works of domestic linguists this option is given insufficient attention.

On the materials of the genre of Presidential Address to Federal Congress the article offers a comparison in functioning of auxiliary communicative units in Russian and American political discourse, and reveals the universal and specific characteristics of their usage in political leaders’ speech

The article deals with the use of English organizational discourse markers which provide compositional and logical cohesion and integrity of the narration in spoken popular-science genre of TED talks. It is proved that on the level of speech organization male and female speakers using discourse markers demonstrate more similarities than differences.
