Legal standards as a basis of religious interaction (On the example of the Book of Leviticus)

Autors:
Vorobyeva Svetlana N., Tver State Technical University
Abstract:

The present work is related to such studies, the subject of which is the interaction of various institutional types of discourses. This article will focus on the biblical discourse, which, compared with the legal discourse, is considered by the author as a special type of interaction of believers based on legal norms. A special study of this issue is of undoubted scientific interest, because addressing this problem is important not only for the study of biblical discourse, which, unfortunately, is currently understudied. The fact is that many issues have not yet received proper coverage, for example, there is not enough information about what place a particular discourse occupies among other discourses, what specific features it possesses. Addressing specifically biblical and legal discourses is predetermined by the existence of an ontological connection between them. The study shows that the discourses’ points of contact are legal norms, which are an obvious significant structural component of interaction. The author primarily focuses on the structure of the legal norm and its functioning in the communicative process. Analyzing the biblical material, the author of the article comes to the conclusion that the legal norm: has a clear internal structure; is a convincing way of conveying necessary information; acts as a strategic tool that is used to express a communicative goal related to the correction of human behavior; in biblical communication, it is used by God as a means of influencing the interlocutor. The material for the study was the Book of Leviticus – a kind of legislative collection of rules, which served as the basis for the legal interaction of man and God. The results of the study are important for the understanding of the essence of biblical communication, for obtaining an objective idea of the process of biblical communication.
