The main sources of formation of the terminological vocabulary of the Volga Germans in the conditions of a language island
The article offers a brief overview of the formation of the allochthonous ethnic group of the Volga Germans and the main directions of the formation of the corpus of terminological vocabulary of this ethnic group in the conditions of a language island. The purpose of the study is to determine the main sources from which the terminological vocabulary of the material ethnography of the Volga Germans was formed. One of the important prerequisites for the formation and development of a full-fledged terminological system of the Volga Germans is the existence of the representatives of more than 150 professions and types of activity among the emigrants, which guarantees the preservation, development and transmission of terminological vocabulary to future generations. In the course of the analysis of the original thematic corpus of texts, the author comes to the conclusion that the overwhelming majority of terms are formed by the resources of the native language. In this case, it is necessary to distinguish between terms in the form of standard German and terms in the form of language variants, that is, dialects. In the latter case, it is necessary to take into account the presence of several dialectal variants of the same term, since by the time the lexical material was collected, the Volga Germans had not yet developed a single language of communication. In the settlements of the German region on the Volga, the population continued to communicate in numerous dialects. Another source of replenishment of the corpus of terminological vocabulary should be considered borrowings from the languages of the environment. In this case, we are talking mainly about the Russian language, with whose speakers the colonists contacted outside of their places of residence, since the German villages were monolingual.
