World-modeling universals of childhood in M. A. Osorgin’s story From the Little House

The purpose of this article is to consider the specific features of the artistic embodiment of the components of the author’s childhood world model in the story From the Little House by the writer of the first wave of the Russian émigré, M. A. Osorgin. The author-narrator appears as the central world-modeling category of the work. He remembers, reflects, describes himself as a child. The theme of memory stated in the story is the leading one for the autobiographical prose of the Russian émigré writers.

The communicative function of olfactory images in the novels of P. Suskind Perfume and T. Salih The Season of Migration to the North

The article deals with the comparison of olfactory images in Patrick Suskind’s novel Perfume and Tayeb Salih’s The Season of Migration to the North in the communication context of Arab and European cultures. The initial theoretical point, based on the existing developments in the field of literary studies and cultural studies, is the idea of olfactory images as an essential component of the poetics of a work of art. The role played by olfactory images in revealing the characters of the two heroes Jean-Baptiste Grenouille and Mustafa Said is considered.

Целью настоящей статьи явилось рассмотрение специфики художественного воплощения компонентов художественной модели мира детства автора в повести «Из маленького домика» писателя Русского зарубежья первой волны Михаила Андреевича Осоргина. Еще одной важной проблемой исследования явилось раскрытие вопроса о первоосновах человеческой жизни. Автор-повествователь предстает центральной миромоделирующей категорией произведения. Он вспоминает, размышляет, описывает себя в детстве. Все в произведении подчинено авторской творческой силе, его внутренним переживаниям, ощущениям.

The article researches how Khlestakov’s image that has become a household name has impacted the oeuvre of the later play writers. The images of the so-called Khlestakov-like characters are considered in the works of Gogol himself, of Sukhovo-Kobylin, Saltykov-Shchedrin, Ostrovsky.

Chekhov by B. K. Zaitsev: The author’s concept and composition of ‘biography’

The article analyzes the book by B.K Zaitsev Chekhov (1954) as a novelized biography, a ‘life story’. The author’s concept and composition of the book, consisting of 15 chapters with titles, 54 subchapters / fragments, are given a special emphasis; the artistic meanings and originality of the narrative of a complete biography are considered.
