Refusal in English communication: Tactics of privacy protection

The article deals with the refusal in English communication from the perspective of pragmalinguistics. In the introduction the author justifies the relevance of the chosen topic, indicates the material and methods and formulates a hypothesis. The object of study is utterances conveying refusal which function as a means of protecting private space. The aim of the research is to reveal the communicative tactics of refusal which provide the protection of private space as well as the linguistic means of their implementation.

Отказ в англоязычной коммуникации: тактики защиты приватности

Данная статья посвящена анализу отказа в англоязычном общении с позиций прагмалингвистики. Во введении обоснована актуальность выбранной темы, указан материал, методы и выдвинута гипотеза. Объектом исследования являются высказывания со значением отказа, которые выступают в функции защиты приватного пространства. Цель работы состоит в выявлении коммуникативных тактик отказа, обеспечивающих защиту приватного пространства, и языковых средств их реализации.

Evolution Factors of the Communicative Sphere in Lower Brittany

In this article the factors promoting the replacement of the Breton language and the change of a communicative situation in Lower Brittany in the XIX–XXth centuries are analyzed. The principles of language policy of France, forms and consequences of the introduction of general school education, as well as the importance of the world wars for the unification of the communicative space of the region are described.

How to teach sight interpreting applying a scenario-situation model

The article deals with sight interpreting as a necessary stage of teaching the interpreter to work with a foreign delegation within a cultural programme. Proper cross-cultural communication requires skills and experience in working with the authentic Russian and foreign texts, parallel glossaries, in order to enrich the professional thesaurus, and train translation of cultural discourse texts.
