Meta-language of the Internet Communication: the Issue of Borrowing (on the Material of Spanish and Russian Journalistic Texts)

The article studies the issue of English loan words in the Russian and Spanish languages in information society. The article analyzes the tendencies of the borrowing process and deals with rational and irrational use of loan words in Russian and Spanish journalistic texts.

Literary Word in A. I. Solzhenitsyn’s Opinion-based Journalism

Based on his own recollections and on documented sources the author reconstructs the history of how A. I. Solzhenitsyn’s short novel «One Day In the Life of Ivan Denisovich» was perceived by the members of Saratov University literary club of the first half of the 1960s, under the supervision of a wonderful philologist T. I. Usakina, Assistant Professor of the Chair of the Russian literature of Saratov State University.

Poetry of the Battle Field and of the Rear Area: N. Gumilev and G. Ivanov

The article offers formal criteria of differentiating the military poetry of N. Gumilev from the opinion journalism poetry of G. Ivanov (collection «Fame Memorial»): communicative structure of the poem; the image of the speaker – the image of the rhetorician; tropes preferred; the system of metaphoric models and the ingenuity of their content; figures of speech; the degree of speech being clichéd, etc.

Journal Zavety (Testaments): the Reception of the First Balkan war in M. Prishvin’s Sketches of 1912

M. Prishvin’s sketches from the journal Zavety (Testaments) are republished in fragments containing the reception of the First Balkan war (1912). They in a resourceful and journalistic manner re-create the discussion of the «Slavic issue» actualized by the war in different spheres of the Russian society. It is evident that Prishvin’s images and evaluations sound geopolitically up-to-date.

The Image of the Turn of the Century in the Journalism of Ch. Aitmatov and V. Rasputin

At the turn of the century in their journalistic works Ch. Aitmatov and V. Rasputin reflect on historiosophic issues, identify challenges the humanity faces on the eve of the millennium, look for ways out of the anthropological crisis. In the article the viewpoints of the two writers with the ‘universal points of view’ are compared, and the main motives of their journalistic heritage are singled out.

At the Onset of Aldanov’s Skepticism: the Principles of the Philosophical and Historical Learning in the Author’s Non-fiction of the 1910s («Armageddon»)

In the article the principles of the philosophical and historical analysis of the contemporary political situation (First World War, the Revolution of the year 1917) in M.A. Aldanov’s book «Armageddon» (1918) are singled out. The author of the article attempts to view Aldanov’s skepticism as a method of experiencing reality that confronts the dogmatic thinking.

A. A. Fet and D. A. Stolypin: A dialogue on the peasants’ land ownership (On the material of unpublished letters)

The article presents an analytical review of D. A. Stolypin’s unpublished letters to A. A. Fet, dated back to 1889–1892. The article considers the relationship between the authors, defi nes the reasons for their bonding and further friendly communication. Discussing the issues of agricultural development in Russia is central in Stolypin’s letters to Fet, both correspondents having dedicated opinion articles to these questions.
