Ethnolinguistic peculiarities of Australian slang (based on Internet resources)

The article studies one of the main variants of the English language, Australian English. The main variants of English differ from each other on phonetic and lexical linguistic levels. The grammatical structure is the same in all variants, that is why the focus of the study was the lexical level of Australian English. The word-stock of Australian English includes slang as a certain layer of the vocabulary. It started to be formed under a strong influence of the first settlers from Great Britain.

ЭТНОЛИНГВИСТИЧЕСКИЕ ОСОБЕННОСТИ АВСТРАЛИЙСКОГО СЛЕНГА (НА МАТЕРИАЛЕ ИНТЕРНЕТ-ИСТОЧНИКОВ)

Статья посвящена исследованию одного из основных вариантов английского языка, а именно — австралийского. Как известно, основные варианты английского языка отличаются прежде всего на фонетическом и лексическом уровнях. При этом грамматическая структура, свойственная британскому английскому, с незначительными изменениями сохраняется и в других вариантах, именно поэтому особый интерес в данной работе представляет лексический уровень. В австралийском английском сложился определенный пласт лексики – сленг.

About the Present Linguistic Situation in England. On the Problem of the English Language Variability in London

The article studies the linguistic situation in England and focuses on the problem of variability of the English language in London. The analysis of recent foreign sociolinguistic studies proves the fact that at present there has emerged a new multicultural environment which caused the formation of the so-called multiethnolects in the East-End London, traditionally known as the place of cockney people.
