Alain Robbe-Grillet: Jealousy in a labyrinth of signs and structures

The article is dedicated to the analysis of the best books of a renowned French writer on the background of the birth of the last vivid literary trend in the French literature of the XXth century – the New Novel, one of the outstanding representatives of which was A. Robbe-Grillet. This article comprises historical and literary commentary and, where necessary, short analysis of the most significant features of the writer’s style.

Belles-lettres of the «Young Editorial Board» of the Moskvityanin Journal. The Novel by Ye. E. Driansky Odarka-Gaggle and the Novel by A. F. Pisemsky Slugger

The article considers the debut novels by A. F. Pisemsky and Ye. E. Driansky, which defined the development direction for the prose department of Moskvityanin journal during the ‘young editorial board’ time under the supervision of A. N. Ostrovskiy. Specific features of the individual styles of both writers and the closeness of their aesthetic positions to the program of the journal have been defined.

Subject, Problem Range, Poetics of the Story Title by A. F. Pisemsky «The Comic Actor» (1851)

The article presents an integral analysis of a set short story by A. F. Pisemsky «The Comic Actor» in correlation to the writer’s poetics and to the ideological and aesthetic framework of the «young editorial staff» of the Moskvityanin journal.

First Futuristic

The article considers the issue of «futurism and war» in philosophical, cultural, aesthetic aspects. The analysis of the futuristic poetics confirms the fact that this phenomenon was historically determined in national and world culture.

Unidentified Varravin. To the Poetics of A. V. Sukhovo-Kobylin’s Characters

The article regards the character of General Varravin – the main and only character moving the scheme forward in the drama «The Case» by A. V. Sukhovo-Kobylin. The ambiguity and inconsistency of this character are specifically highlighted.

V. V. Tuzov’s Journal Podenshchina (Day Labour): Poetics and Ideology

The article shows that the journal Podenshchina (Day Labour) published in 1769 is of interest from both formal and information point of view. The peculiarity of its structure lies in the plot unity where the central character is an imaginary journal publisher. The content of Podenshchina magazine is characterized by its educational policy.

Poetics of I. Ilf’s Novella The Master of the Jews

The article considers the poetics of the novella The Master of the Jews by I. Ilf first published in 2003. The author considers the image system of the text and the features of the artistic statements, which allow to draw the conclusion about the significance of The Master of the Jews as a praetext of the kind for the works of I. Ilf and E. Petrov.

Turgenev and Symbolists: to the Issue of the Artistic Experience of Turgenev as a Novelist. Article 2: The Technique of ‘Partial Duality’ and ‘Paired’ Scenes in the Novel Smoke

The author continues to investigate those artistic devices of Turgenev as a novel-writer which acquire special significance for the authors of symbolic novels. The subject of analysis is the technique of ‘partial duality’ and the ‘paired’ scenes, as well as the folklore allusions in Turgenev’s novel Smoke: their features and functions.

K. D. Balmont’s Sonnets of Sun, Honey and Moon: the Title Poetics and the Book Structure

The article analyzes the title poetics and the structure of the poetry book by K. D. Balmont Sonnets of Sun, Honey and Moon (1917) as a book of sonnets, a book of symbols, a ‘chamber’ book.

The Image of the Sky in Siberian Stories and Essays of V. G. Korolenko

The article considers the image of the sky as a key element of the verbal landscape of V. G. Korolenko’s Siberian cycle of stories and essays. Its main functional features defining plot and compositional integrity of the works, folk-mythological origins of components of the figurative system of landscape paintings and artistic potential of ‘celestial’ symbols are identified.
