From the journal Vesy to the Russian “novel of catastrophes” of the late 20th century: A new book by A. I. Vanyukov

The review contains a general characterization of A. I. Vanyukov’s new book “The literary 20th century – 2: journals, books, genres”, its content, structure, logic of selecting the material for analysis, as well as the peculiarities of the author’s research style: a strong reliance on historical, literary and literary-critical material and context, attention to poetic detail, poetics of titles, numerical symbolism, composition of the work, active use of various biographical, literary-critical, epistolary sources.

В рецензии содержится общая характеристика новой книги А.И. Ванюкова «Литературный XX век – 2: журналы, книги, жанры», её содержания, структуры, логики отбора материала для анализа, а также особенностей исследовательского почерка автора рецензируемой книги: прочной опоры на историко-литературный и литературно-критический материал и контекст, внимание к поэтической детали, поэтике заглавий, числовой символике, композиции произведения, активное использование различных биографических, литературно-критических, эпистолярных источников.

The Poetry of the Russian Novel

The monograph under review explores the poetics of the Russian novel of the first half of the 20th century. The author focuses on the titular sphere of the works and their inner organization, as well as the rhythm of the composition.

Chekhov by B. K. Zaitsev: The author’s concept and composition of ‘biography’

The article analyzes the book by B.K Zaitsev Chekhov (1954) as a novelized biography, a ‘life story’. The author’s concept and composition of the book, consisting of 15 chapters with titles, 54 subchapters / fragments, are given a special emphasis; the artistic meanings and originality of the narrative of a complete biography are considered.
