The article deals with the comparative analysis of traditional mass-media (press, radio and TV) and the new communicative technology – the Internet. The article contains the analysis of functional characteristics of the World Wide Web: synthetical character, expansive way of development, fragmentariness in giving information, high-speed informational divulgation and high manipulative potential.

The article gives a detailed review and classification of the possible variants of belles-lettres existence on the pages of the printed mass media; a historic correlation and modern collaboration of journalism and literature is traced.
