Waiting for Game. To the Question of the XIXth Century Russian Drama Poetics

The article studies the motif of waiting for game situation that often occurs in the story-line of the XIXth century Russian comedies, gives ground for its essential importance for the plot-building and creating the characters of the plays, points to the connection of this intertextual situation with the reality of the Russian society, its social, moral and psychological climate.

The Image of Solyony in Chekhov’s Play Three Sisters and Lermontov

The article shows how the behavior of Solyony, a character from Three Sisters, and a number of personality traits are similar to those of Lermontov. It is claimed that Solyony does not play Lermontov, indeed, he has Lermontov’s personality. The character dreaming of a different self becomes guilty of the misfortunes of characters dreaming about a different life.

Lermontov’s Taman: Space, Characters, Plot

The article analyzes the principles of space and plot interaction in Lermontov’s Taman. The author examines the features of mythologizing space. The plot roles of the characters and the paradoxes of Pechorin’s behavior are studied. The correlation of the incident and destiny in the development of the plot is specified. A special place of the story in the semantic structure of Pechorin’s Diary is revealed.

The image of Lermontov in the Soviet poetry and Meeting by Bulat Okudzhava

The article examines the literary context of one of the most important poems of Bulat Okudzhava. Special emphasis is placed on the pattern of making a classic poet a myth in the belles-lettres of the Soviet era. The connections of the poem Meeting with Lermontov’s poetry are noted, the functions of reminiscences are examined. The place of Lermontov’s image in the ‘poetic mythology’ of Okudzhava’s poetry is defined.
