A Short Story by A. I. Solzhenitsyn «The New Generation»: From the Past to the Present

The article analyzes the ideas in A. I. Solzhenitsyn’s short story «The New Generation», the peculiarities of the conflict of tradition and innovation in post-revolutionary Russia (1920–1930s) and its relevance for modern Russia.

Evaluative and Symbolic View of the Opposition ‘Deep – Superficial’

The article presents the results of the semantic research of the axiological binary opposition of the Russian language ‘deep – superficial’; some peculiarities of its components’ symbolization are described. Based on the language material the idea is propounded that the opposition components under research reflect the phenomena of the physical, sensuous sphere, and are also employed in denoting the epistemological sphere in the Russian language.

The peculiarities of the oppositional political discourse of Ugandan politician Bobi Wine

The article analyzes the political discourse of one of the most infl uential Ugandan opposition politicians, Bobi Wine, who is famous for his scathing criticism of Ioweri Museveni’s regime, existing since 1986. Bobi Wine, who offi cially started his political career in 2017, the year when he was elected in the Ugandan parliament, actually does not recognize the legitimacy of the rule of his ideological enemy. In the country the political myth is created according to which the opposition, and not Yoweri Musevini, won the presidential elections of 2021.
