Ergonymicon as a frame and as a field in the aspect of advertising nomination

The author of the article proceeds from the premise that an ergonym, being an advertising name, implements in its form the main internal opposition of advertising – informativeness contrasted with suggestiveness. The purpose of the study is to trace the specific characteristics of the implementation of this opposition in the ergonymy of various industries.

Semantics of Names in Samuel Beckett’s Plays of the 1950s–1960s

This research examines the etymological meanings, morphological patterns and semantic complexes associated with the character names in three of Samuel Beckett’s major plays: Waiting for Godot (1953), Endgame (1957) and Happy Days (1961).

Onomastics issues in A. F. Pisemsky’s drama А bitter fate and the author’s religious and moralistic views

A. F. Pisemsky’s drama А bitter fate was used as the material for research. This play, as well as all his literary activity, his “Sketches of peasant life” have signifi cantly enriched the Russian literaturе, revealed new aspects in depicting the Russian peasant. The aim of the article is to study onyms in this play. The аnаlysis of the play from the chosen perspective аllows to get а deeper insight into the sources аnd аrtistic functions of “Lives of Saints” in A. F. Pisemsky’s poetics. All creative onyms by Pisemsky can be presented as an integral structure.

22nd International scientific conference “Onomastics of the Volga region”

The article presents an overview of the work of the 22nd International Conference “Onomastics of the Volga region”, held on September 26–29, 2024, at Saratov State Medical University. The participants were diverse in geography and affiliation: the forum brought together scientists from 58 universities and scientific institutions in Russia (35 cities), as well as neighboring countries. Two plenary sessions were held, five breakout sessions, held in face-to-face and mixed format, and one intersectional session in a remote format. A total of 98 reports were presented.

A foreign proper name in Spanish idioms and proverbs

The article deals with Spanish set expressions that include a foreign proper name. The study overviews phraseological units, as well as proverbs and sayings included in the most important Spanish lexicographical works. Dealing with an onomastic (onymic) component requires the description of idioms, their origin, meaning and the degree of linguistic actuality.
