Game Strategies in V. Nabokov’s Lectures on Literature

The article analyzes the literary game and narrative strategies in V. Nabokov’s Lecture Discourse. The results allow us to believe that Nabokov has used the fictional methods in his Lectures. The correlation of Subject and Object of creativity allows us to speak about Lecture Discourse as an artistic integrity.

Kochkarev’s and Podkolesin’s Games in «Marriage» by Gogol

In the article the point of Podkolesin’s implicit victimization is questioned. The dynamic equilibrium of forces between Kochkarev and Podkolesin is analyzed. This marks gaming possibilities in a human, oppositely directed, but similarly powerful.

Adelaida Ivanovna Krugel

The article is devoted to German motives in The Gamblers by N. V. Gogol and their connection with the ways of portraying a fraudulent environment. The author specifically focuses on one of the characters – the sharpie Krugel and the card pack called Adelaida Ivanovna. Moreover, these observations allow to draw conclusions on the ‘background thoughts’ of the author about human nature, hidden in comic dialogues of The Gamblers.

‘The Goddess of Light-Hearted Happiness’: Lidiya Cheboksarova’s Games

The article deals with the image of Lydia Cheboksarova, the heroine of the play by Alexander Ostrovsky Money to Burn, in the context of the implementation of the game motives in the text. The author focuses on behavioral strategies of the character, its world outlook, stylistic range.
