The development of semantic neologisms within the lexico-semantic group “The denominations of mutant coronavirus strains”

The article describes semantic neologisation within the lexico-semantic group “The denominations of mutant coronavirus strains” as part of the lexico-semantic fi eld “The new coronavirus infection”. The relevance of the article is determined by bringing into clear focus the lexical units that have not yet been analyzed within the designated topic.

Семантическая неологизация в рамках лексико-семантической группы «Наименования коронавирусных штаммов-мутантов»

В статье описана семантическая неологизация в пределах лексико-семантической группы «Наименования коронавирусных штаммов-мутантов» как части лексико-семантического поля «Новая коронавирусная инфекция». Актуальность статьи обусловлена введением в оборот лексических единиц, ещё не излучавшихся в рамках обозначенной темы. Цель статьи – предложить параметры классификации репрезентантов вышеназванной лексико-семантической группы и провести компонентный анализ собранного материала, что является основным методом, используемым в статье.

Linguistic features of American political correctness on the example of the implementation of the “People First” trend in modern English

Political correctness is one of the key values of the American society that characterizes the distinguishing features of the national mentality. The ideas of political correctness are quite vividly represented in American English at the lexical, syntactic and communicative levels. The authors attempt to study the language implementation of the “People First” trend that emerged in the United States in the early 1990s, using the example of transformations in the fi eld of medical terminology.
