The Problem of «Feminine Style» in Literary Criticism (Gender Aspect)

The paper formulates methodological principles of the gender component identification in the process of the artistic image analysis. It clarifies the scope of the notions «feminine style» and «feminine literature». The focus is on such a specific feature of feminine writing as gender «bilingualism». The latter is interpreted as a basis for the gradually emerging feminine dominance in contemporary culture.

Gender «Politics» of a Female Author (on the Example of L. Ulitskaya’s Novels)

The article formulates the methodological principles for the identification of the gender constituent in the analysis of literary texts. Four novels by L. Ulitskaya show the dynamics of the actualized discursive gender model of the world and human being. The article focuses on the techniques of feminine consciousness representation in the text, on their dynamics in the process of a female author searching for the type of an ideal hero.

Speech Representation of the Gender Consciousness in the Modern ‘Female’ Prose

The article presents typological features of ‘feminine writing’ identified in the texts of modern women writers; methodological principles are set up for the identification of the gender element on the level of the work speech organization.

Hidden Wishes: August von Platen’s Sophisticated Way to Goethe

The article deals with August von Platen’s – an outstanding German romantic poet (1796–1835) – search for sources of inspiration, using ‘close reading’ as a basic interpretative method in gender poetics. In this article, for this purpose, the so-called Goethe’s ‘gender canon’, embracing specific Goethe’s works created between 1774 and 1821, was analyzed. This period of Goethe‘s creativity is a subject of fierce controversies in contemporary literary criticism, but specifically this period proved to be the most important for Platen’s formation as a minority poet.
