NOMEN

There are different approaches to distinguishing between proper names and nominal names. in this article it is proposed to consider this problem from the standpoint of cognitive linguistics, namely within the framework of the theory of prototypes. The application of this approach led to the introduction of the term "onychic conversion".

The article studies the function of IT-nomens in mass-media. Differentiation of terms and nomens is of the outmost importance in the study of terminology in general and IT-terminology in particular. Mutual intervention of various aspects of social activity also causes the exchange of their terminological units.
