Two alphabets for one minority language as a threat to its existence (a case study of Lezgian)

The paper deals with the failed attempt of the Republic of Azerbaijan to introduce an additional Latin-based alphabet for the Lezgian language, which has been using the Cyrillic script since the late 30s of the 20th century to the present day.

Evolution Factors of the Communicative Sphere in Lower Brittany

In this article the factors promoting the replacement of the Breton language and the change of a communicative situation in Lower Brittany in the XIX–XXth centuries are analyzed. The principles of language policy of France, forms and consequences of the introduction of general school education, as well as the importance of the world wars for the unification of the communicative space of the region are described.

The Status of Modern German in Tomsk Educational Sphere in the Context of Americanization

The article is dedicated to the analysis of the status component of modern German in the educational sphere of the city of Tomsk. Registered decline of this language is determined by the tendencies to Americanization, by the recognition of English as the only foreign language, and by the democratization of cultural and language policy in the post-war Federal Republic of Germany.
