The Poem by Bulat Okudzhava My Son’s Tin Soldier in the Cultural and Historic Context of the 1960s

The poem by Okudzhava is comprehended against the background of a number of texts published during the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Patriotic War. Okudzhava’s unique stand in the situation of the historic celebration is determined, the controversy with Levitansky’s poem The Little Man is traced. It is shown how Andersen’s formula of the ‘persistent tin soldier’ is transformed in Okudzhava’s point of view. The views of Okudzhava and Samoilov on literature about the war are compared.

Creator’s Tasks and the Meaning of the Creative Act. Elena Shvartz vs Anna Gorenko

The article considers the features of the cultural dialogue of two generations – the 1970’s and 1990’s. The poems of E. Shvartz and A. Gorenko are analyzed, world-view and aesthetic attitudes that are key for the two generations are indicated. Also the paper reveals the difference in understanding the tasks of the creator and the purpose of the creative act.

Argumentation Patterns in Presidential Discourse (Exemplified by V. V. Putin’s Speech)

The article considers the structural characteristics of V. V. Putin’s response utterances in the course of a public dialogue. The interrelation is discovered between the object of criticism in the question of the media representative and the choice of speech tactics and language means of their manifestation in the answer of the head of state. The identified features are presented in the form of compositional patterns.

On Journalistic Practice of Weimar Republic: Walter Benjamin’s Interview in the Newspaper «Die literarische Welt» (1927–1929)

The article examines underexplored aspects of the famous German philosopher Walter Benjamin’s journalism. Nine interviews in the newspaper «Die literarische Welt “ have been chosen to show how Benjamin’s experiments with the genre of interview contributed to the development of his dialectic materialism and, at the same time, updated the poetics of the dialogue of the early twentieth century.

At the Onset of Aldanov’s Skepticism: the Principles of the Philosophical and Historical Learning in the Author’s Non-fiction of the 1910s («Armageddon»)

In the article the principles of the philosophical and historical analysis of the contemporary political situation (First World War, the Revolution of the year 1917) in M.A. Aldanov’s book «Armageddon» (1918) are singled out. The author of the article attempts to view Aldanov’s skepticism as a method of experiencing reality that confronts the dogmatic thinking.
