Concept of Another in Concept Spheres of the Dursleys and D. Malfoy (in novels by J. K. Rowling about Harry Potter)

This article presents a comparative characterization of the structure and modes of representation of a concept ANOTHER in the concept spheres of two character types in the novels by J. K. Rowling about Harry Potter.

Literary Word in A. I. Solzhenitsyn’s Opinion-based Journalism

Based on his own recollections and on documented sources the author reconstructs the history of how A. I. Solzhenitsyn’s short novel «One Day In the Life of Ivan Denisovich» was perceived by the members of Saratov University literary club of the first half of the 1960s, under the supervision of a wonderful philologist T. I. Usakina, Assistant Professor of the Chair of the Russian literature of Saratov State University.

Ways of Presenting Knowledge (the Experience of the XIXth Century Scientists)

The author compares signature peculiarities of the scientific discourse texts of the prominent XIXth century scientists Ch. Darwin and H. Spenser from the perspective of pragmatics and ways of knowledge presentation. The main aspects of comparison are text organization, mental presentations and the style of narration.

Metaphorization of Social Lexis in the Russian Jargons of the End of the 20th – the Beginning of the 21st centuries

The article analyzes jargon metaphors formed on the basis of social lexis. The author singles out semantic fields and groups extensively used for developing transfers, the main principles of metaphorization and their specific characteristics in comparison with the literary language. The conclusions are drawn on the jargon users’ world picture, which is represented with the help of the social metaphor.

On the possibilities of the corpus-based study of the worldview of traditional popular culture members

The electronic dialect corpus, modelled on the basis of synthesizing linguistic and cultural data, has a great potential for studying the traditional popular worldview: its objective and conceptual segmentation, and its variations in different language communities and in different forms of popular culture verbalization.

The place of landscape in the narrative structure of Kryukov’s works

The purpose of the article is to analyze the main functions of the landscape in the works of F. Kryukov. Nature in his narrative system acts as an independent object of portrayal and a toolkit for description, as the place of the character’s residence and the contemplated landscape, as an integral picture and a set of contrasting elements. The emphasis is placed on the narrative role of the landscape in the development of the author’s point of view, the structuring of the artistic space, and plot formation.

To the Question of the Literary Concept Content‑Structure Feature Research in Linguocultural and Discursive Aspects

The article discusses general theory questions of modern linguistics related to the research of the literary concept phenomenon, its content-structure and functional feature. Special emphasis is placed on the question of the interrelation of the cultural and literary concepts in communicativediscursive aspect.
