Semantic Borrowing in Polysemy and Homonymy

The article is devoted to the study of the semantic borrowing process in the French language of Canada. Being the result of language contact, semantic borrowing leads to polysemy. Borrowing of a homonymous meaning can be regarded as an intermediate stage of polysemy decomposition and semantic homonym formation.

SEMANTIC ENGLICSMISM IN THE PRINTED MEDIA OF FRENCH-JANUARY CANADA

This article is devoted to the analysis of the language of print media in French-speaking Canada and, in particular, to the study of such a phenomenon as semantic borrowing. The existence of this type of borrowing is due, first of all, to the special linguistic situation prevailing in Canada. It is the presence of semantic borrowings from the English language is the main feature of the language of the print media in Canada.

Specific Characteristics of English Borrowingsin German and Spanish

The article studies the process of borrowing, adaptation and functioning of English vocabulary in national dialects of German and Spanish. The positive and negative factors of the English borrowings influencing these languages are examined.
