Actual Functioning of the Russian Language and the Paths of Its Development

There can be three ways of the future development оn the Russian literary language but only one seems fruitful. Its accomplishment depends on the native speakers awareness that only two types of speech culture are of true standard nature. They are: 1) fully-functional speech cuiture presipposing the correct use of the highest possible number of language means in ай registers, 2) partiallyfunctional speech culture presupposing the correct use of most language means in two or three registers. 

N.V. Gogol’s Ambitions as a Literary Critic: Article «About Trends in the Press, 1834–1835»

The article reflects on the nature of Gogol’s journalistic and critical talent. The article «About trends in press, 1834-1835» is a manifesto of Gogol’s ideas. The author’s thought is shown to be closely connected with the problem of judgment, philosophically and culturally charged. Meanings of «judgment» in the article range from a reporter’s opinion to a concept of justice.

«Life Questions» – a magazine of 1905

The article examines the program, politics, contents, cultural and literary influence and outcomes of the magazine “Life Questions”, which was published in 1905 (the editor – N.O. Lossky, the publisher – D.E. Zhukovsky) with cooperation from S.N. Bulgakov and N.A. Berdyaev, as well as Vyach.Ivanov, A.Blok, etc.
