Tthe Manifestation of Social, Ethnic and Cultural Identity in the National Periodicals (Based on the Material of the Chechen Journal NANA)

The article considers the role of national periodicals in the context of national cultural values, which exist in the media. The author considers the problem of social and ethno-cultural identity as a factor in forming the image of the nation.

This article deals with the images of the woman, the man and the preferred relationships on the material of the dating game show «Love at first sight» (1991 vs. 2011). Plausible reasons of the identified differences in the mental representations of the woman, the man and the preferred relationships are outlined.

Language Manipulation as a Factor of Cooperative Communication in Spanish Newspaper and Opinion Journalism Discourse

The article considers discursive mechanisms of influencing the mind of information recipients in the Spanish language media space. Language manipulation is not always used for the purpose of impacting the recipient in the environment of conflict communication. The pragmalinguistic strategy of manipulation can serve as a means of bringing discursive positions closer and of creating cooperative communication.

In the article the author investigates the process of transformation of literary life publications on the pages of socio-political newspapers in the middle of the 1990s. The mechanisms impacting the formation of a new value system in the momentous period of society development are revealed. The author defines the importance of literary life publications in the perception of newspaper issue information.

Auxiliary Communicative Units’ Functioning In the Radio Programmes

The article researches how additional communicative units function in monologues and dialogues that sound on the Russian and English radio. In the Russian broadcasts those units are used more frequently and in more diverse ways than in the English ones. Dialogical speech is filled with more additional units of various types than monological speech. The differences between the monologue and dialogue are more vividly pronounced in the English language broadcasts.

YOUTH PRESS AS A COMPONENT OF STUDENT LIFE

The article considers the youth press of modern Russia as an important component of student life. On the example of three youth newspapers ("Student City", "Gaudeamus" and "Cactus"), the author offers an analysis of the thematic variety of journalistic materials about student life, reviews the most popular genres and headings of youth publications, draws conclusions about the level of interactivity of the modern student press.

Specific Features of Realization of Frankness in the Mass-mediated Discourse

In the article the researcher identifies the peculiarity of a sincere conversation in different mass media genres; a definition of a TV-interview in the sincere conversation style is offered, its genre features are specified; such strategies and tactics are reviewed that TV journalists employ to bring out the interlocutor’s personality to the utmost degree.

«Chekhov Review» of the Journal Zavety (Covenants) (1912–1914)

Journal Zavety (Covenants) focused primarily on Russian classical literature. The article considers several points of view on the personality and legacy of Chekhov that the journal offered to its readers; similar and controversial aspects are distinguished; the outline of the edition programme attitude to the writer is traced.
